Our Approach

Why second opinions matter.

Dental decisions are not always one right answer.

Getting a second opinion does not mean the first dentist was wrong. It means you want enough information to understand the options, tradeoffs, timing, and long-term plan before choosing care.

When it helps

When a second opinion makes sense.

Before extraction

Once a tooth is removed, the treatment path changes. A second opinion can help clarify whether preservation options were fully considered.

Before several crowns

A plan that involves crowning multiple teeth is a significant commitment. An independent read on structural need and timing is reasonable.

Before implants

Implants are appropriate in many cases. The question of timing, site preparation, and adjacent tooth involvement deserves an independent evaluation.

Before a large treatment plan

When a plan spans multiple teeth or involves significant cost, understanding the sequencing and clinical reasoning helps you make a clearer decision.

When cost or timing feels unclear

If a plan feels rushed or the reasoning was not explained, a second opinion gives you time and clarity before committing.

When you are unsure what should happen first

Not every dental problem needs to be addressed at once. A second opinion can help clarify which steps are clinically time-sensitive and which can wait.

KYT Framework

What KYT evaluates.

A second opinion at KYT is structured around four clinical variables. This is how we evaluate the recommendation and what alternatives may exist.

Structure

What tooth, bone, gum, or restoration support is still present?

Force

How are bite forces affecting the recommendation or the area in question?

Timing

What should happen now, what can wait, and what needs more information before deciding?

Long-term stability

Which option is most likely to hold up with maintenance over time?

What you leave with

What the visit gives you.

A plain-English explanation of the findings

A comparison of reasonable treatment options

Notes on timing and sequencing

Questions to ask your current provider

Clearer next steps before choosing a treatment path
