About this office

Restorative fillings at our Fountain Valley office

KYT Dental Services in Fountain Valley treats every filling decision through the Keep Your Teeth framework: structure, force, time, and long-term stability. The clinical question is not simply whether a tooth has a cavity — it is whether enough healthy tooth structure remains for a filling to be a predictable long-term restoration, or whether a different restoration will hold up better.

The office is on Warner Ave near the Costa Mesa border and serves patients from Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa, Santa Ana, Garden Grove, and Westminster. A written estimate is provided before any restoration begins.

What to expect for a filling at our Fountain Valley office

Dr. Sun personally evaluates the tooth, discusses the restoration options, and places the filling. The same dentist who reads the X-ray and examines the tooth is the one performing the restoration.

  1. Step 01

    Exam and imaging

Dr. Sun evaluates the tooth clinically and reviews the appropriate imaging to understand the extent of decay, the amount of remaining healthy tooth structure, and how the tooth is loaded during the bite.

  2. Step 02

    Filling versus another restoration

Not every cavity is best treated with a filling. When too much healthy tooth structure has been lost, a filling can crack the remaining tooth over time instead of protecting it. Dr. Sun explains whether a filling is the appropriate restoration or whether a different option, such as a crown, would be more predictable long-term.

  3. Step 03

    Written estimate before treatment

Once the restoration plan is agreed on, a written estimate is provided before any treatment begins. PPO benefits are reviewed whenever possible so the patient portion is clear before the first appointment on the tooth.

  4. Step 04

    Placing the filling

Dr. Sun places the filling directly. The visit is planned around the tooth actually being restored — not a fixed template — so the time and sequence reflect what the tooth needs.

  5. Step 05

When more care is needed later

Some teeth that could be restored with a filling today may need a more protective restoration in the future if the tooth continues to lose structure or begins to fracture. If that risk is on the horizon, Dr. Sun says so directly rather than waiting for the tooth to fail.
