Losartan and your teeth

Generic name: Losartan · Class: Angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB)

Losartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker used for high blood pressure, heart failure, and to protect kidney function in diabetic patients.

Losartan is often the alternative chosen when ACE inhibitors like lisinopril cause cough or taste changes. It causes mild dry mouth in some patients but is generally one of the better-tolerated blood pressure medications from a dental perspective. It does not cause the gum overgrowth seen with calcium channel blockers or the lichenoid reactions seen with some other antihypertensives.
